Knights soccer team begins season

The Marion County High School Knights soccer season is in full effect.

Saturday, the Knights fell to West Jessamine 3-0.

Saturday, Aug. 4, the Knights tied with Paris 2-2.

Head Coach Greg Conley noted that the West Jessamine game was much closer than the 3-0 score showed. Both of these games were preseason scrimmages, and the team opened regular season play yesterday at LaRue County.

"Our goalkeeper Michael Costello played outstanding," Conley said. "I think we have established our starting defense with Trevor Hood and Jordan Mattingly both playing outside backs. Our sweeper is Alex Smith and our stopper is Brandon Knopp."

Conley noted that Hood and Mattingly are both strong and fast, Smith is a very smart player that runs everything in the back, and Knopp is playing "fantastic" right now.
