The Marion County High School softball team broke new ground Wednesday, winning their 19th game of the season for the first time in school history.

The Lady Knights tied the record of 18 wins last season in Trent Milby's first year as head coach and broke their own record this season.

The team's 19th win brings their overall record to 19-12, good enough for the fifth best record in the region.

Marion County rocked Elizabethtown 6-0 at Talley Field after five-and-a-half innings in a rain-shortened game.

Allye Hamilton took the win from the mound, striking out 11 of 25 batters six innings.

Tiffany Sapp led the offense with three hits, including a home run over right field in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the Lady Knights up 6-0. She went three for four at the plate with two singles.

The Lady Knights played Adair County on Monday night at Campbellsville High School in the first round of the 20th District tournament. The Lady Knights won with a final score of 1-0.
