The Marion County Lady Knights held their own in a four-way battle against Washington County, Pulaski County and Green County last Thursday at the Roby Dome.
“I think for the most part we played pretty well,” Marion County Coach David Hibbard said. “We started off a little bit slow but once we got into it, we played pretty consistently.”
The Lady Knights went 25-16, 19-25, 20-18 against Washington County, 18-25, 25-15, 18-19 against Pulaski County, and 18-25, 26-24, 11-21 against Green County.
According to Hibbard, Green County makes for a unique and formidable opponent.
“I tell you what, man, Green County is going to be one of the two favorites in our region this year,” Hibbard said, “so the fact that we took a set off of them and hung with them for the most part is very, very encouraging.”
The scrimmages all together helped prepare the Lady Knights for the looming season and allowed everyone to see what they are made of.
“We played hard, we played with intensity… our offense was fantastic, our defense at times was great,” Hibbard said,
One their evident weaknesses however was their serve-receive.
“If we can get that squared away, I think we’ll be pretty tough,” Hibbard said.
The Lady Knights volleyball team’s next game will be against Campbellsville on Aug. 20.
