Marion County High School girls' soccer Head Coach Neil Payne recently announced the team award winners at the soccer banquet, which was held Wednesday of last week. They are as follows:

Offensive Player of the Year - Sabrina Tom

Defensive Player of the Year - Erica Essex

110 percent - Raven Blair

Most Improved - Christian Montgomery

Lady Knighted (award goes to player who never gives up, regardless of circumstances) - Kara Chapman

The team also had12 academic All-State members.

"Our banquet was a nice ending to a year that was full of ups and downs," Payne said. "My girls worked hard all year and I was proud to be able to stand in front of the crowd and talk about the success of the team and of each player as well as be able share stories from the season. Everyone had a great time. The four seniors were able to get up and share memories of being a Lady Knight soccer player."

The Lady Knights finished their season against district power Danville in the district tournament. The Lady Admirals were district runner-up, losing to eventual region champ Boyle County in the district final. The Lady Ads made a quick exit in the 15th Region tournament getting bumped by Southwestern.

Next season, the Lady Knights look to improve upon this year's 4-12-1 record. Payne returns for his third season as a coach and second season as head coach.
