The Marion County High School softball team had an up and down week last week, dropping a game to district opponent Adair County but knocking off district power Taylor County at Taylor.

The Lady Knights continue their anomaly of a season, having won all of their road games and none of their home games. After this week, the Lady Knights improved to 8-4.

Green County 5, Marion County 4

The Lady Knights lost yet another heart-breaker at home on Thursday.

Marion County started strong, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on wild pitching and defensive errors by Green County.

The Lady Dragons would settle down and hold the Lady Knights in check while they played catch up in the top of the fifth inning by bringing three runs across on two consecutive errors by the Lady Knights.

The Lady Knights stalled on offense but Green County used the momentum and pulled away with two runs in the top of the seventh.

Coco May led the Lady Knights off with a single to open the bottom of the seventh and would later come in to score and cut the Green County lead to one. Tiffany Sapp reached base on a single and later stole second but would be left stranded as the tying run as the Lady Knights couldn't hang on.

Ashley Walls took the loss from the mound while pitching two innings and giving up two runs.
