The Marion County High School softball team started the season off strong after winning two out of three games in their first week.
The Lady Knights thumped Lincoln County 12-1 on Friday at Lincoln.
"We hit the ball pretty good that day. Our defense played really good," Heach Coach Trent Milby said. "Allye Hamilton pitched really well against Lincoln County. That's probably her best-pitched game other than Nelson. We made the plays against Lincoln."
On Thursday, the Lady Knights traveled to Elizabethtown to face the Lady Panthers. They rocked the Fifth Region foe 14-4 in five innings.
The Lady Knights jumped out to a 14-0 lead and cruised to their first win of the season.
"They lost several players off last year's team. They're kind of rebuilding," Milby said.
The week didn't start off so hot for the Lady Knights after losing a lead against Nelson County on Tuesday of last week.
Three routine fly balls dropped in the outfield as the Lady Knights shook off the off-season rust in the season opener at Talley Field.
"We made a couple of errors that you can't make. Those were pretty routine balls, they've just got to make those plays," Milby said.
The Lady Knights host Fort Knox at 6 p.m. on Thursday. They travel to Mercer County on Friday. The first pitch for that game is at 6 p.m.
