After a rough and difficult season last year, the Lady Knights soccer team has started off this year on the right foot, easily defeating Whitley County in the Berea Lady Pirate Soccerama 8-1. The team took a commanding 7-0 lead into the halftime break and easily cruised to the victory.

In the game, Noel Obata scored five goals for the team. Sara Obata, Colleen Rakes and Miranda Bradshaw each scored one goal.

"We used the second half as 40 minutes of learning," Head Coach Devin Johnson said. "Our main goal was to maintain possession of the ball, which we did a pretty good job of."

Johnson went on to comment that the team still has quite a bit to work on, but are getting better every single day.

The Lady Knights traveled back to Berea on Monday night to play the Lady Pirates, and will host their first home game of the season tonight. Marion County will host Anderson County at 6 p.m. this evening, before traveling to Fort Knox on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
