Lady Knights suffer first loss

The Marion County High School girls' golf team suffered a rare defeat, falling to Taylor County at Campbellsville Country Club Tuesday of last week. The loss was their first of the season in match play.

The Lady Knights shot an overall score of 192 while Taylor left with a 175. Campbellsville came in third with a 266.

Olivia Carrico led the way with a 44 while Hayley Abell shot a 45. Amy Brown finished with a 48 while Taylor Howard had a 55. Brianna Reynolds shot a 56.

More recently, the Lady Knights competed in the prestigious Kentucky Invitational Tournament (KIT).

Full results from the tournament were not available at press time.

"The KIT went well. We didn't burn it up but we didn't do bad," Lady Knights Head Coach Danny McFall said.

Abell shot an 83 while Brown and Carrico fired 87's. Taylor Howard finished with a 120 while Brianna Reynolds shot a 125 for a team score of 377.

The Lady Knights traveled to Green County for a match on Thursday but were greeted with a no show by the host team.

On Monday of last week, the Lady Knights hosted a four-player squad from Washington County at Rosewood Golf Course.

The Lady Knights prevailed 185 to 202.

Brown led the way with a 39 while Carrico shot a 43. Abell finished with a 47 and Howard had a 56. Reynolds finished with a 59.

The Lady Knights travel to Adair County to face the Lady Indians Thursday. Results from their match with Nelson County Monday at Nelson were unknown at press time.
