Lebanon man dead after wreck

The Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on Monday, Feb. 15.

According to the Lebanon Police Department, at 2:08 p.m., a caller reported seeing an overturned vehicle in a creek on Popes Creek Road, six miles east of Lebanon. The Kentucky State Police, Marion County EMS, Marion County Rescue Squad and Bradfordsville Fire Department responded to the scene.

According to a report by the KSP, the accident is estimated to have occurred at 5:45 a.m.

Jose Manuel Rodriguez, 29, of Lebanon was operating a 1999 Mitsubishi eastbound on Popes Creek Road when the vehicle dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway and overturned in a creek.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marion County Deputy Coroner. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed on Tuesday in Louisville.

It is unknown if Rodriguez was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

The scene was cleared at 3:38 p.m.

Another accident was reported at 4:20 p.m. on Monday, but no one was seriously injured.

According to Kentucky State Police, the collision occurred two miles west of Lebanon on St. Rose Road. Robert Mitchell, 42, of Lebanon was driving a 2003 Dodge eastbound on St. Rose Road when he slid off the roadway and struck a tree. Mitchell was belted and was not injured.

A passenger in the vehicle, 1-year-old Madison Odessa, also of Lebanon, was in a child restraint and was transported by private vehicle to Spring View Hospital. She was treated and released.
