The Lebanon Middle School eighth grade girls' basketball team will be one of 32 teams vying for the Kentucky Basketball Academy state tournament title this week.

LMS won the tournament last year, according to Head Coach Trent Milby. Four players from last year returned to this year's squad. LMS finished the regular season unbeaten at 26-0.

The conference tournament began for the girls on Monday and continues on Thursday. The tournament is being hosted by LMS as they are the top seed. Next Monday is the championship game of their conference tournament.

LMS will play AB Combs, a team from Combs, Ky., on Saturday at 10:20 a.m. at the Kentucky Basketball Academy in Lexington.

LMS will play another game Sunday no matter how they fare on Saturday. The first two games are play in games for the tournament. Every team is guaranteed two games. Should LMS emerge from this weekend and make it to the championship game, they'll play under the bright lights at Rupp Arena on Nov. 20 at 1:30 p.m.
