I grew up in Lebanon and I still read the paper every week. I am not usually an outspoken person, but after reading the editorial in last week’s issue, I had to respond. Stevie Lowery is entitled to her opinion, just as everyone is, but since I don’t have a page in the weekly paper dedicated to my opinion, this is the only option I have, so this is how WE see it.
The editorial was nothing but a biased, personal attack on Kenny Marrett, a man who has spent most of his adult years helping this community. To drag one man through the dirt just to commend another is not only juvenile, but completely unprofessional. You did neither Chris Hamilton nor yourself any service by bashing Mr. Marrett. It tarnishes the whole article, making it nothing but kindling for the fire.
Kenny is an honest, hardworking man with strong opinions and he stands up for them. He didn’t get where he is today by sitting back and going with the flow. He wasn’t given handouts. He has worked very hard for everything he has and everything he has accomplished. He fights for what he believes in and he believes in our community.
