Letter: Fix your pets, don’t be cruel

-A A +A

Kudos to you for the column on “Don’t be a litterbug, get your pets fixed” by Weny Doric. Kudos again for the letter submitted from the St. Francis community about dogs (pets in general) being shot. I believe there can never be enough articles written and published about abandoned and abused animals.

As for me, I have six cats and all but one have been tossed to the road or gotten from an animal shelter. I am aware of other strays in town, a few behind the Dollar Store and God only knows how many others are in the cold, icy cold or when summer comes, humid hot weather without food or water.  Some of the people at the store feed the cats and I have also taken it upon myself to weather the snow and cold to feed poor little God’s creatures. Yes, there are mice to be found, but they are most likely hidden in the snow packs too. You know these cats and dogs are freezing and hungry and not to mention without their shots, or neutered or spayed. If people will read your columns and take heed to have their pets fixed, male or female, then these poor creatures would not populate and create more pain and suffering. Animal cruelty is not “manly.” I hope people get your messages.
