This letter is being written in regards to the last editorial. I found the statements to be very one-sided, opinionated, and simply slanderous. I felt compelled to write this letter for one simple reason, I felt as though the blasphemy was much more than what I believe the community needed or wanted to read.
I feel that our editor used enough criticism and blame, dragging my father (Kenny Marrett) through the mud in last Wednesday’s paper, so I needed to say something. So “here it goes” ....
I disagree with your ruthless comments and in my next statements you’ll understand why. I know some may feel as though this is a typical back and forth wrangle between a public and a professional opinion. Knowing more of the genuine and honest intentions of Kenny Marrett I feel that I should make my voice heard.
For months my father and Mr. Hamilton have been portrayed as having a less than professional relationship. I know there have been some quelling episodes between the two and others. However, I assure you the disagreements do not leave the room in which they are held. My father, while differing in opinion on how the tourism is operated, goes no deeper than that. I know that these disagreements are NOT personal. They are simply professional, and that is that.
Moving on to address the unreliable assertions about things smelling funny. Well, Ms. Editor, something does smell funny, and it is clear to me that newspaper sales are what is important to you. Integrity and trustworthiness never crossed my mind while reading last week’s article. Devoting numerous paragraphs to what you believe Kenny Marrett has done in deleterious ways opposed to what he has done to beautify, credit and appreciate Marion County wasn’t at all fair in the least. I wanted to write everything my father has devoted time, money and skill towards in the community.
Rethinking this, I decided most Marion County citizens know my father and the feats he has accomplished, and the same people know where his heart is and frankly decided to just let you stew around in your own miserable outlook all by yourself.
I know all the above to be just because I know the truth, and I know the man, and you couldn’t have been more inaccurate if you tried.
