Thursday, Aug. 14, the Junior Lady Knights travelled to OKH where the seventh and eighth grade teams were defeated.

OKH won the seventh grade game, 24-18.

OKH 7th grade 24, SCMS, 18 — Jenny Mattingly 10 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal; Katie Mattingly 3 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal; Ava Spalding 4 points, 3 rebounds; Kristi Martin 1 point, 7 rebounds, 2 steals; Mckenzie Reynolds 10 rebounds.

OKH 8th grade 25, SCMS 14 — Cassidy Logsdon 6 points, 5 rebounds, 7 steals; Mariella Curtis 4 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals; Abby Scott 2 points, Lauren Ferriell 2 points.

Tuesday, Aug. 12, the St. Charles Middle School Junior Lady Knights basketball team opened their season by hosting Bloomfield.  Both the 7th and 8th grade teams started their seasons with wins.

The SCMS sixth grade team lost, but no further information a was provided about their game.

SCMS 7th grade 19, Bloomfield 8 — Jenny Mattingly 8 points, 2 rebounds; McKenzie Reynolds 5 points, 13 rebounds, 2 steals; Emily Helms 2 points, 12 rebounds, 6 steals; Katie Mattingly 3 points, 4 rebounds, 6 steals

SCMS 8th grade 32, Bloomfield 6 — Cassidy Logsdon 9 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals; Mariella Curtis 8 points, 3 rebounds, 5 steals; Elise Carpenter 8 points, 3 rebounds, 5 steals; Abby Scott 3 points, 1 rebound, 3 steals; Sammi Jo Potters 2 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals; Emily Helms 2 points, 1 steal.

St. Charles wins football opener

St. Charles Middle School football team opened its season with at 26-14 win over Spencer County on Aug. 13.  

“It was not just one individual’s efforts.  It was a team effort.  We were all very happy and surprised, “ Jacob Goodin said.

Goodin scored a touchdown on St. Charles’ first play of the game.
