Little ones bring love to Christmas

-A A +A

It is bustling with red and white, trees shining and blinking brightly, little ones telling us they have been and are still good. They know Santa is watching them. Oh what a blessed and fun time of the year.
This past Tuesday the Loretto seniors were entertained with the three-, four-, and five-year-old little ones from the Loretto Daycare, our new neighbors next door. They sang some Christmas carols for us. They were really cute and good with their song and actions. Now that is what love of Christmas is really about, seeing the joy and excitement with the young ones.
The opening of the new Loretto Community Senior Center was held Dec. 15 with great attendance from the community. For the door prizes, Sr. Marie Antoinette’s name was pulled for the jam cake and Frances Peterson won the year membership. Thanks to all who in this busy time of the year that spent some of their Sunday with the opening and showing of the center.
Special thanks to Dr Salem George for the property to start the project with, to the City of Loretto for seeing the need for the community, to Sen. Jimmy Higdon, Janice Rawson with Lincoln Trail, and Judge John Mattingly for their time and help in acquiring the funding.
The seniors of Loretto unveiled to Dr. George an enlargement of a picture of him to be hung in the front entrance foyer. He was also presented a plaque in honor and appreciation of his donation to the city and seniors.
Many thanks to Frankie Nalley, Lisa and Carly Baize, and Jeannie Mattingly for decorating the center so beautifully. To all seniors “a big welcome” who are now enjoying the use of the new center.
The City of Loretto presented to Mark Mattingly’s family a plaque in honor of all the work Mark had done for the advancement for the betterment of the City of Loretto.
There was a lot of love and excitement in the crowd that day. We are so excited to build the center into a lovely, lively, and loving place for seniors of the community to enjoy.
If you haven’t visited please come by and do so. As time goes we hope to soon be on a regular schedule with program. If you are 55+ we have membership forms for being a club member. Yearly cost for being a member is $12 per person. You do not have to be a club member to participate at the center. Being a member will entail some perks throughout the year.
If you wish to stop in, make sure there is someone there. You can call the center at 270-865-2011.
Our annual Christmas party for seniors at the Bradfordsville Senior Center gym on Sunday, Dec. 8 was canceled due to the bad weather. It has been rescheduled for Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. If you think you may be attending please call 270-699-9898 to leave your name on a list. We need an approximate number as to how many to prepare for.
There will be door prizes, music, Bingo games, and lunch. Cost will be $1 per person plus a non-perishable item to be donated to Community Action.
I have a trip going into the JFK and Cape Cod area in June on the 21-29. That is on a Saturday through the next Sunday.  Call me at 270-699-9898 for a flyer if you are interested as a deposit is due in February.
May we all be given the best gift of all and for me that is love. So to all I say, “I love you and wish for you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year… Love is in the air…Be also mindful of the Reason for the Season.”
