The Girl's Sweet 16 is still several months away, but that doesn't mean there is a shortage of championship basketball being played. The Girl's Middle School State Tournament Final sponsored by the Kentucky Basketball Academy will be played at Rupp Arena on Nov. 28, at 1:30 p.m. This tournament has been going on since 2003. The KBA decided to add a little incentive to the tournament this year and play the finals at Rupp Arena.

The tournament started with 32 teams from all ends of the Commonwealth. Only a few teams are left standing for a chance to play in Rupp.

Lebanon Middle School was undefeated going into the tournament and had a lot to play for since they were last year's champions. This team had many fine players including two standouts; Makayla Epps, who is daughter of former UK player Anthony Epps, and Kyvin Goodin-Rogers, the daughter of former U of L guard Tick Rogers.

Louisville's Crosby Middle, having only been together a few weeks, showed how much talent they had early in the tournament.

China Dow, who had 21 and 25 points in the quarterfinals and semis, will be hard to stop with her style of play. Crosby Middle is always one of the top teams in the Louisville area.
