Army National Guard Sgt. 1st Class James B. Mattingly has returned to Kentucky after being deployed to an overseas forward operating base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Mattingly, a wheeled vehicle motor sergeant, is a member of the 2nd Battalion, 138th Field Artillery based in Bardstown. The guardsman has served in the military for 19 years.
He is the son of John H. Mattingly and Helen R. Mattingly of Calvary Road in Finley.
Mattingly is a 1982 graduate of Marion County High School.
