Lolly Dog in la-la land with Turtleman

Next to the Turtleman himself, Lolly might be the most popular member of the Turtle Team.

Ernie Brown Jr., the Turtle Man, and Lolly have garnered a following through Brown's television show "Call of the Wildman".

"She is loyal to me," Brown said. "Loyal."

That likely has something to do with how they met.

On Nov. 1, 2009, someone dumped a litter of puppies, including Lolly, near the Turtleman's house.

"There were two other little dogs I was trying to catch with her. They got run over before I could get to 'em. She just happened to be the lucky one that got away," Brown said.

Eventually, he cornered her under a covering. As he approached, she was so scared, she tried digging through rock, he said.

"She done tore her fingernails up, and her paws, they was bleedin'," Brown said.

He had a piece of chicken with him and he offered it to Lolly to entice her to come out. When she did, he pet her and spoke to her.

"I ain't got much, but come on," Brown said. "At least you got a roof over yer head and somebody that loves ya. One meal a day, that's all you get, just like me. I eat, you eat. I said let's go."

Brown said her full name is Lolly Lilly Bell Brown, but he calls her Lolly Dog for short. He said he came up with the name because of her disposition.

"I just named her Lolly cause she's so happy, tickled to death," Brown said. "She was in la-la land that somebody actually cared for her."
