Back in the 50s, my grandma Mabel Dillon had one of those houses none of the trick-or-treaters wanted to miss. She always made the good old-fashioned treats, like popcorn balls, caramel apples and pulled taffy.
She would sometimes add food coloring to the syrup when making popcorn balls. She also made caramel corn and caramel popcorn balls (my favorite.)
Lots of kids today have probably never had a popcorn ball.
