MARCHING BAND

The Marion County High School Marching Band wrapped up its band camp Aug. 3 with a cookout and a public performance. The band members demonstrated some precision marching, walked through the first movement of this year's performance piece, and played the music for the second movement. This year's piece is "Visionary", which was created by the Cirque du Soleil Company, a group of performers who combine acrobatics, drama and music. Band Director Curtis Bennett explained that visionaries think outside the box and try to transform the way people think about the world.
