Pictured are Haitian children holding jars of peanut butter that were donated by the people of Marion County earlier this year after Haiti suffered a magnitude 7.0 earthquake on Jan. 12. A total of 110,000 pounds of peanut butter, rice, beans, canned goods, T-shirts, sheets and shoes were collected locally for the people of Haiti. The majority of those donations have already been sent to Haiti, but according to Brother Bud Owen, who has been leading the local effort, another 40,000 pounds of peanut butter and other donations from Marion County was scheduled to be shipped Monday.
