The Marion County 11-12 all-star team has reached the elimination play of the state baseball tournament.
The local all-stars defeated Knox County on July 25 to wrap up pool play with a perfect 3-0 record.
In the semifinals, Marion County is scheduled to play Russell-Flatwood at 8 p.m. at Stone Crest Field #1 in Prestonsburg. The winner will play in the state championship game, which is scheduled for Friday evening.
Marion County was able to easily handle Russell-Flatwoods 11-1 in four innings in their semifinal game, securing their spot in the state championship game on Friday evening. In the other semifinal game, Warren County Southern easily took care of Anderson County 10-0 in five innings to advance. Warren County Southern defeated Marion County last season to take the 11 year old state championship, and the rematch is set. Game time is set for 6:30 P.M.
