Volunteer leaders from Marion County Farm Bureau made a trip to the state capitol in Frankfort on Wednesday, March 13, to meet with State Senator Jimmy Higdon and State Representative Terry Mills. The group was welcomed into both Sen. Higdon’s and Rep. Mills’ offices to discuss the interests of Kentucky’s agricultural livelihood and the priority issues set forth during Kentucky Farm Bureau’s annual meeting this past December.
The list of priorities supported by Kentucky Farm Bureau membership includes: funding for the Breathitt Veterinary Center in Hopkinsville, maintaining 50% of the Master Settlement Agreement funds to the Agricultural Development Board, continued funding of the Soil Erosion and Water Quality Cost-Share Program, ensuring that career and technical education remains a strong and viable program, and addressing Kentucky’s feral hogs issue.
