Statewide, 62.8 percent of eligible voters participated in the 2008 Presidential election. Marion County's turnout, 65 percent, was higher than the statewide turnout and two percent higher than the county's turnout in the 2004 Presidential election.
In all, 7,943 Marion Countians cast a ballot in the 2008 General Election. That figure includes 527 absentee votes.
In all three national races on the ballot, Marion County favored the losing candidates.
