Long time assistant coach and cornerstone of the county hoops scene Danny Marks will step down from his position on the Marion County High School boy's basketball team after this season.
Marks indicated in the preseason, as he has in recent seasons, that this would be his last stint on the Knights sideline. This time, however, he's making the leap.
Marks' son, Eric, indicated last week via email that the coach filed retirement papers and is in fact planning to retire.
Check back next week for more information on Marks retirement and long time coaching career in Marion County. His last home game will be on Feb. 12 when the Knights face border rival Washington County.
Anyone wishing to email comments about Marks and his coaching career can do so before Feb. 7 to firstname.lastname@example.org. The comments will be considered for a column about Marks' career in the Feb. 10 issue.
