Ellen McFall, a teacher at St. Charles Middle School, has much more joy than usual to share with her students this holiday season. McFall is the recipient of a 2012 MAC Grant from McDonald’s Restaurants of Kentuckiana.
For the tenth consecutive year, Kentuckiana middle school teachers shared their ideas of how to “Make Activities Count” in the classroom in hopes of receiving one of McDonald’s MAC Grants. The grant program rewards teachers for innovation and creativity in the classroom by providing funding for hands-on learning activities.
McFall will use the grant money to purchase Kindle Fires for her school’s library. The Kindle Fires will give students the opportunity to read books that are not offered in their library.
The MAC Grant program provides up to $500 to inspired middle school teachers interested in creating meaningful and interactive educational projects for sixth, seventh and eighth grades. This year, McDonald’s Restaurants of Kentuckiana will award over $11,000 in grant money to area teachers.
