Students in Greg Conley's Special Topics class are putting the new Corel Drawx4 software to good use by re-designing a new flag for the school. Eighteen students took on the task. The task was simple: • Design a flag that represents the school with class.
• Make sure to include the primary school colors - maroon (main), navy blue and silver as accent colors.
• Incorporate the school logo and/or the school mascot.
• Provide a few thumbnail sketches before beginning on the computer.
• All designs must be completed using CorelDrawx4. • Submit as many flag designs as he or she wishes.
After all designs were turned in they were passed on to the administration for consideration to be placed in the finals and voted on by the student body.
Designs came from the following students: John Austin Browning, Carla Allen, Ethan Hughes, Candace Miles, Lauren Robey, Jordan Wheatley, Ariona Barnett, Madison Beach, Abby Browning, Ann Rachel Hagan, Heather Knopp, Corey Lee, Amber Mudd and Tony Ryan.
Nine finalists were selected and were voted on last week during lunch. Those designs came from the following students: John Austin Browning, Lauren Robey, Jordan Wheatley, Amber Mudd, Erica Essex, and Heather Knopp.
Lauren Robey won the contest with John Austin Browning being the runner-up. One of their designs will be chosen as the school's new flag.
