American Legion Post 49 will be hosting the annual Memorial Day program at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 30, at the Lebanon National Cemetery.
The program will include the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard, the Marion County High School ROTC and the Marion County High School Band.
Col. Frank Bland will serve as the master of ceremonies, and the Rev. Vic Stansbury will present the invocation and the benediction.
This year's guest speaker is Col. James G. Russell.
Russell, a Marion County native, is a 1972 graduate of Marion County High School and the school's ROTC program. He also graduated from Morehead State University in 1976. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from Morehead State's ROTC program.
Russell has served in staff positions from the battalion through the division level, and he has commanded at the company, batallion and bridage levels when he was a member of the 100th Division. He served in Lebanon, Fort Knox, Lexington, Owensboro and Louisville.
