Memorial Day closings

The VFW Marple Caldwell Post 5910 will be hosting a Memorial Day service at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lebanon National Cemetery.

The Marion County High School band will perform, and the guest speaker will be Major Joe W. Warren Jr.

Warren enlisted in the Kentucky National Guard in 1986. He served a tour of duty during Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, and he is scheduled to deploy to Bosnia next year.

The ceremony will include the placement of a wreath in honor of the last local veteran interred at the cemetery.

The Marion County Honor Guard and the Marion County High School JROTC will also participate in the ceremony.

Memorial Day closings

Several Marion County offices will be closed Saturday, May 28, and Monday, May 30, for the Memorial Day holiday.

The Marion County PVA's Office, the Judge/Executive's office, the county clerk's office and the circuit clerk's office will all be closed on those days for the holidays. The PVA office will also be closed Friday, May 27, for a mandatory furlough day. The offices will re-open Tuesday, May 31.

The Lebanon Enterprise will also be closed Monday. All news items should be submitted by 5 p.m. Thursday. Advertising deadlines will be noon Friday.
