Tanner Strong's classmates will be holding a memorial service for him at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the Marion County High School track. Strong died Feb. 19 after an accident while taking down a treehouse.
Strong, 16, was an avid UK fan, and students are encouraged to wear their UK gear, blue and white balloons and a white candle.
Strong was buried Monday, Feb. 24.
Rev. Neal Gordon, the pastor at Abundant Life, said Strong was "all boy." In addition to hunting and fishing, Strong enjoyed riding four-wheelers, and he was a cross country runner at Marion County High School.
And he was a faithful follower of Christ, according to Gordon.
“He was a great, great kid,” Gordon said.
Gordon met with the Abundant Life youth group the day after Strong died. He said they were shocked and many tears were shed.
“It’s OK to weep," Gordon said. "God weeps with us."
