Mid-Kentucky Arts at St. Catharine hopes to take you away on a Magical Musical Mystery Tour-an evening full of modern and international jazz, Gillespie, Ellington, Gershwin and the Beatles! Teresa Tedder’s “The Big Sandy Suite” will be featured on the Tour. “The Big Sandy Suite” is an eclectic, seven-movement instrumental suite. Tedder comments that the Suite is “a high-energy fusion of jazz, rock and classical styles. Each movement is based on a work of art by Isaac Moody while he was in Big Sandy Federal Prison-the titles of the movement come from text that is actually incorporated in the different art pieces.”
Other concert selections include “Girl from Ipanema,” “ Magical Mystery Tour,” “In a Sentimental Mood,” “ I’ve Got Rhythm,” and other musical treats. Featured musicians include Saulo DeAlmeida (bass/cello), Alim Nastaev (guitar), Craig Tweddell (trumpet), Adam Hopper (drums), Denis Santos (flute), Higo Rodrigues (piano), and Joanna Ximenes (piano).
Concert dates are Saturday, Nov. 12, in Angelic Hall, Fine Arts Building, Center Square, in Lebanon at 7:30 and Sunday, Nov. 13, in St. Catharine Hall, St. Catharine College, Springfield at 2 p.m. Tickets are available in advance or at the door.
