Minority parent needed for Superintendent Search Screening Committee

-A A +A

Deadline to nominate is Friday, March 11

By Stevie Lowery

The Marion County Public School System is in need of a minority parent to be on the Superintendent Search Screening Committee.

So far, the committee consists of the following individuals:

- Ed Hacker – board representative

- Brad Mattingly – parent representative

- Marilu Farnham - teacher representative (Glasscock Elementary School)

- Hollie Buckman – teacher representative (Lebanon Middle School)

- Donna Royse - principal representative

Because the school system’s minority student population is greater than eight percent, one of the members of the screening committee must be a minority parent.

Anyone that is interested in serving on this committee (or to make a nomination) should notify the office staff at your child’s school. Any parent of a Marion County student can nominate, but only minority parents can be nominees.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 11, by noon. No nominees will be accepted after this deadline.

All nominees will be placed on a ballot and sent back to the schools for distribution to the parents for voting. Parents of the school district will elect the minority parent representative for the screening committee.

For further information, contact your child’s school principal or Pam Spalding at the Marion County Board of Education, (270) 692-3721.
