With the recent hot, dry weather, Marion County Judge/Executive John G. Mattingly has been getting several questions about a burn ban. He addressed the issue during the July 5 fiscal court meeting.
He reminded the court that they declared a burn ban a few years ago, but shortly thereafter, he was contacted by the Kentucky Division of Forestry, which let him know that the county could not enforce a burn ban and that it was up to the Division of Forestry to issue a statewide ban.
