The Caring Place is an emergency domestic violence shelter for women and children of abuse. Domestic violence can be defined as a pattern of behavior in any relationship that is used to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner. Some of the services that are offered to residents of the shelter include counseling and housing assistance.
The Caring Place has many activities scheduled during the month, including a bake sale at Friday's Marion County High School football game, a road block Saturday in Marion County and a road block in Washington County Sunday.
The Caring Place is a 501(c)3 organization. It's a private shelter and relies solely on grants and donations from private individuals.
