The 2011-12 school tax rates for real estate and personal property are likely to increase four percent, but county residents will have an opportunity to voice their opinions during a public hearing at the Marion County Board of Education Wednesday, Aug. 31.
Tuesday, Aug. 9, the board voiced their intent to approve the 2012 tax rates. If approved, the motor vehicle tax will remain the same as last year, 52.6 cents per $100 of assessment. However, the real estate and personal property taxes will increase from 50.6 cents to 52.2 cents per $100 of assessment.
