In a largely symbolic race, Mitt Romney won the Kentucky Republican presidential primary election.
Statewide, Romney received 117,600 votes.
His opponents for the Republican nomination suspended their campaigns before Kentucky held its primary on May 22. Nevertheless, Texas Congressman Ron Paul, the father of Sen. Rand Paul, received 22,071 votes. Rick Santorum received 15,628 votes, and Newt Gingrich received 10,479 votes. And 10,356 Republican voters cast ballots for uncommitted.
