Preliminary statistics* indicate that 16 people died in 14 separate crashes on Kentucky’s roadways from Monday, July 2 through Sunday, July 8, 2012.
Thirteen of the victims were traveling in motor vehicles. Seven were not wearing seat belts. Two of the fatalities were the result of crashes involving alcohol.
Two of the fatalities were riding motorcycles. Neither was wearing a helmet and alcohol was involved in both crashes.
One of the fatalities was a pedestrian and alcohol was involved.
