Sparks will compete in the Kentucky Derby Spelling Bee March 10

Ethan Sparks, age 11, a sixth-grader at St. Augustine School, will represent Marion County at the Kentucky Derby Spelling Bee March 10, 2012 in Louisville.
The Kentucky Derby Festival Foundation will be providing savings bonds to the winner. The spelling bee champion will receive a $5,000 savings bond and a Webster’s International Dictionary. The second place winner will receive a $2,500 savings bond, third place $1,000 and fourth-place $500. The top four finishers will also be awarded a trophy and $25 gift certificate.
Sparks won the 2011 Marion County Ham Days Spelling Bee sponsored by Marion County Farm Bureau. He is the son of Tom and Lori Sparks and is the grandson of Gene and Mary Ann Mudd, all of Lebanon.
