Sluggers tie for first
Fifteen teams, including four locally based teams, competed in the United Southern Girls Softball Fast Pitch tournaments in the 14-and-under, 12-and-under and 10-and-under divisions.
The Marion County Sluggers tied for first in the rain-shortened 14-and-under division winning two pool games behind twin two hit shut out pitching performances of Ashley Walls and Monie Matney. The Bluegrass Blaze also went undefeated in pool play and the Fern Creek Fusion came in third place.
In the 12-and-under division the Kentucky Lady Cats came in first place, the Kentucky Raptors came in second and the Taylor County Cardinals came in third place.
In the also rain-shortened 10-and-under division the Kentucky Sidewinders got first place, the Kentucky fillies second and the Taylor County Thunder third.

Knights host basketball camp June 7-9
Marion County Knights Head Basketball Coach Anthony Epps has announced the Knights will be hosting a basketball camp at Marion County High School from June 7-9. The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The event is open to any student who will be in grades 3-8 during the 2011-12 school year. St. Catharine to hold baseball camp in Bardstown
The St. Catharine College baseball team will hold its annual baseball camp at Dean Watts Park in Bardstown on June 14 and June 16. The camp will be from 9 a.m. to noon each day. It is for players aged six years old and older. The cost is $50 for those who register by June 7. The fee for those who register after that, including the first day of camp, is $60.
The camp will be conducted by St. Catharine head assistant coach Terry Davis along with other Patriot assistants, Bryan Allan and Travis Adams, and members of the 2001 Patriot team. The camp will emphasize hitting fielding and throwing.

St. Catharine golf coach offers lessons
As a fundraiser for her men’s and women’s golf team at St. Catharine College, head coach Joan Rizer will again be offering golf lessons this spring. The lessons will be given at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood. To set up a time for lessons call Coach Rizer at (502) 507-4777.
