Springfield man gets five years for sex abuse

Christopher Grigsby, 32, of 1793 Bardstown Road Apt. 4 in Springfield was sentenced to five years in prison for first-degree sexual abuse in Marion Circuit Court recently.
Grigsby had been indicted for two counts of rape (victim under 12), four counts of first-degree sodomy (victim under 12) and six counts of incest (victim under 12). On Sept. 19, a jury convicted Grigsby of one count of first-degree sexual abuse, but not the other charges.
Marion Circuit Judge Dan Kelly issued Grigsby’s sentencing order on Nov. 21. In addition to serving time in prison, Grigsby will have three years of conditional discharge. Having been convicted of a sex crime, he will be required to register with the appropriate local Probation and Parole Office. He must also provide a blood sample for DNA law enforcement identification.
In other court news:
- Joseph A. Calhoun, 48, of 3557 Burton Lane in Lebanon pled guilty to first-degree possession of a controlled substance, DUI third offense with aggravator, driving a motor vehicle on a DUI suspended license first offense, and no tail lamps. For the misdemeanor charges, Calhoun was sentenced to 24 months of probation and he was ordered to pay court costs for the DUI. His sentence is still pending on the drug possession charge.
- Christopher K. Harrington, 32, of 129 Rosenwald Village Street in Lebanon pled guilty to two counts of second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance first offense (more than 20 dosage units). His sentencing is pending. Two counts of second-degree persistent felony offender were dismissed.
