Springfield man seriously injured in motorcycle accident

A Springfield man is in serious condition at University Hospital after being involved in a motorcycle accident Saturday in Loretto.   The collision occurred at 8:14 p.m. on KY 49 in Loretto.

John F. Golden, 52, was driving a 1978 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he lost control, and was thrown from the motorcycle. Golden was not wearing a helmet and was airlifted by Air Evac to University Hospital in Louisville.

As of Monday, Golden was listed in serious condition.

KSP Trooper Brian Coyt was assisted at the scene by KSP Trooper Ricky Underwood, the Loretto Fire Department, Marion County Sheriff's Department, Marion County Rescue Squad and Marion County EMS. Alcohol is believed to be a factor and charges are pending, according to the KSP.
