Marion County Lady Knights finish 39-0 and win state title

The Marion County Lady Knights wrapped up a perfect 39-0 season by winning the 2013 state championship.

Marion County defeated the Notre Dame Pandas in the Girls Sweet 16 final, 52-36.

Marion County High School Principal Stacy Hall said a welcome home celebration has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Roby Dome.

Tonight, the Marion County Lady Knights will make their second consecutive appearance in the championship game of the Houchen's Industries/KHSAA Girls' Sweet 16 State Basketball Tournament at E.A. Diddle Arena on the campus of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  This year, the Lady Knights will be taking on the Lady Pandas from Notre Dame in Covington, Kentucky.  Tipoff is scheduled for 9:00 PM eastern time.

Starting lineups are underway; tipoff is approximately 10 minutes away.

With this win, the Lady Knights become the 11th school in Kentucky history to now have won a boys and girls state basketball championship.
