Marion County’s Sluggers 14 and Under Softball team played in July 16 and 17 TST Summer Slam Classic at First Southern Vertran’s Park in Stanford. The Sluggers defeated the Storm Fusion from South Central Kentucky 4 to 3 in the semifinals and defeated Lancaster’s Kentucky Krossfire 13 to 4 in the final using an eight-run top of the sixth to break the game open to win the championship. This is the second consecutive championship for the team as they competed in the Glasgow Open 16 and under softball tournament July 4th weekend. Playing and winning five games in one day they upset the older Elizabethtown Fury 2-0 and the S. Kentucky Sluggers 7 to 4 in the final.
