Monday evening, the Lebanon City Council took the first step toward allowing Sunday alcohol sales.
The council voted 4-2 to approve the first reading of a proposed ordinance that would allow restaurants to serve alcohol by the drink between noon and 10 p.m. on Sundays.
A separate provision in the ordinance would allow alcohol sales from noon to 1 a.m. when New Year's Eve falls on a Sunday.
