Last Tuesday, the Marion County Aquaknights competed in a meet at the Lebanon Aquatic Center.  According to Head Coach Holly Buckman, two school records were broken in the meet.

“The girls started the meet off by breaking the 12-year-old 200 yard relay medley high school record!,” she said.

Laura Rice, Johannah Leake, Lindsey Buckman, and Morgan Avritt completed the race in 2:16.08, eclipsing the previous record of 2:17.47 set by Megan Thompson, Emily Peterson, Jenny Jenkins, and Andrea Craig set in 2000.

“Lindsey followed suit and broke the 20-year-old high school record in the 100 yard butterfly,” Coach Buckman said.

Lindsey Buckman broke Ann Mattingly’s record of 1:16.11 in that distance. Lindsey Buckman completed the race in 1:13.50.

“This was an amazing night for our team!” Buckman said.  “I have never seen such team support with all of the cheering and yelling for these ladies as they reached these milestones!  It was incredible!”

Full results and times for the record breaking performances were not available as of press time.
