A two-vehicle collision on Saturday evening at the intersection of Danville Highway and Garrett Lane sent four people to the hospital, three of which were airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital.

According to the Marion County Sheriff's Department, at 5:49 p.m., Cody Peterson, 19, of Loretto was driving east on U.S. 68 when he veered to the right in an attempt to avoid a vehicle stopped making a left-hand turn. Once Peterson was around the vehicle he lost control, crossed the centerline and was struck by Wilby Newton, 61, of Gravel Switch. Newton and his daughter, Samantha, age not given, were airlifted from the scene to University Hospital in Louiville. Newton's wife, Marie, was transported to Spring View Hospital where she was later airlifted to University Hospital. Peterson was treated and released from Spring View Hospital.

Marion County Sheriff Carroll Kirkland and Deputy Sheriff Tim Abell are investigating the accident.

The Marion County EMS, Marion County Rescue Squad, Lebanon Fire Department and Kentucky State Police also assisted at the accident scene, which was cleared at 7:14 p.m.
