For all of the steps forward the Marion County School System has taken in the last year, it appears that they have taken a giant step backwards this spring.
From the meeting notes of the Marion County High School Site Base Council, it appears that Marion County High School has once again hired Anthony Epps as an assistant coach for both the football and girls basketball teams.
Though I agree that everyone deserves a second chance to get their life in order, I really do wonder why this was considered after the events of the past 18 months that included a statement in this very paper that Mr. Epps felt that he was not treated fairly by the way The Lebanon Enterprise reported his second DUI arrest in 6 months and that he regretted moving back to this "simple minded town."
If the Marion County School System feels that there are no better candidates in the state of Kentucky or Marion County than Mr. Epps, than they at least owe the people of Marion County an explanation as to why they have decided to give him another chance.
Also, I do believe Mr. Epps owes the citizens within Marion County and Lebanon an apology for his statement calling the place we live a "Simple Minded Town."
