Two men die following accident on Short Line Pike

Woman in serious condition after McElroy Pike accident

Two men have died and a woman was injured as a result of two separate accidents Sunday, Aug. 28, in Marion County.


Around 12:15 p.m., a red Dodge truck was traveling on Short Line Pike toward Danville Highway.  Approximately three and a half miles from Danville Highway, the truck left the roadway near Cleo Gordon Road and struck at least one tree.

The driver, James Mattingly Jr., was transported to Spring View Hospital, but he was declared dead later. A passenger, James Mattingly III, died at the scene.

Mattingly Jr.'s wife, Diane, was also in the vehicle although she treated at the scene, according the sheriff's office.

Marion County Rescue, Marion County EMS and the Kentucky State Police also assisted at the scene.

Woman injured on McElroy Pike

Ina Rawlings was flown to University Hospital in Louisville following a single-vehicle accident at 8 a.m. Sunday. She was listed in serious condition as of Sunday afternoon.

Rawlings was driving on McElroy Pike. She drove off the road in a curve approximately one mile from Campbellsville Highway and struck a tree, according to Gardner.
