In an effort to raise funds and awareness for The Caring Place in Lebanon, Walmart Supercenter and Woodforest Bank, both in Lebanon, will sponsor a series of special fund-raising events in February, March and April.
The first event, which was held Feb. 11 at Walmart, was an associate “Valentine’s Bake Sale.” All of the proceeds will benefit The Caring Place.
“The associates really enjoyed doing it - and The Caring Place is such a great cause. It provides an important service to this community and surrounding counties,” said Teresa Spears, Walmart store manager.
To date, Walmart Associates have raised $200 for The Caring Place.
This “Valentine Bake Sale” is the first in a series of Walmart-sponsored special events for The Caring Place. Up next is a St. Patrick’s Day potluck and pizza party. The goal is to raise at least $5,000 by April 30.
Of all the special fund-raising events planned, the biggest one, Fun-Run Derby Day/”Stick Horse/Egg and Spoon Derby” is planned for Saturday, April 30, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Graham Memorial Park in Lebanon.
