The Marion County boys and girls basketball teams will travel to Campbellsville Friday to take on the Taylor County Cardinals with action beginning at 6:30 p.m.  This will be the first of two scheduled meetings between the two teams with the next scheduled for Feb. 4, at the Roby Dome. The Knights and Cardinals have met more than 90 times since 1970, with 23 of those meetings coming in the postseason. Marion County holds a 4-19 record over Taylor County in the postseason with wins coming in 1974, 1993, 1997 and 2005. Last season, Marion County split a pair of decisions with Taylor County coming away with a two point victory on Dec. 28 and an 11-point loss on Jan. 22.
Last season, the Lady Knights defeated the Lady Cardinals by a combined 77 points in their two meetings. The last loss the Lady Knights suffered at the hands of the Lady Cardinals came in the 2005-06 district opener.
Saturday, the Lady Knights will travel to Louisville to take part in the RAATZ Fence Classic, which will be held at Mercy. Their opponent is scheduled to be DuPont Manual, the No. 1 ranked team in the state, and tip-off is set for 7:45  p.m.  The Lady Knights have faced the Lady Crimsons on three other occasions and have a record of 1-2 in those outings. The victory came last season when Marion County defeated DuPont Manual by two points in a 44-42 win.
Tuesday the Knights will be back at home to face Collins High School. Collins currently holds a record of 13-4 and has won their last five match-ups. The JV game is scheduled to tip off at 6:30 p.m. with the varsity action to follow.
